Castor Wood: Traditionally castor sticks are placed in the centre.
Dry Bushes: Dry weeds from the fields or fallen dry woods can be used.
3. Important rules of Holika Dahan (Do’s and Don’ts)
Bathing and purification: Before joining the Dahan, take bath and perform the puja with a pure mind.
Parikrama: It is auspicious to revolve around Holika 3, 5 or 7 times.
Offering: Offering wheat ear, gram, moong and coconut in the fire brings blessings to the house.
Tilak of ash: Applying Tilak of Holika’s ashes the next morning protects from negative powers.
