Post

Shravan month is starting from 11 July. Lord Shiva is specially worshiped in this month. Devotees worship and fast to please Lord Shiva. They receive the blessings of Lord Shiva by doing bilvapatra, flowers and Jalabhishek.

Both water and bilvapatra are very important in the worship of Shiva. First of all, offer water or Ganga water while anointing Shiva. Then offer curd, milk, honey, sugar etc. Then offer pure water or Ganga water again. Then offer bilvapatra, white flowers, bhag dhatur etc.

It is described in the Shiva Purana and Rudra Samhita that Shivalinga should be anointed first with Ganga water or pure water, then bilva patra, dhatura, cannabis, white flowers or other worship materials should be offered. In the “Kedar Khand” of Skanda Purana, it is said that Shiva lingam should be anointed first with pure water in Shiva Puja.

The worship of Shiva is described in detail in the Padma Purana. In the Padma Purana, the glory of water and bilvapatra is first described in the worship of Shiva, but water has been given the first place.

Why we first offer water, there is an important reason behind it. It is considered a part of worship. Water provides coolness to Shiva. This is dear to them. Shiva drank the Mahavish of the ocean churning for the protection of the world and the welfare of the world and wearing it in his throat. That is why one of his names is Neelkanth.

To reduce the heat of this poison, a stream of water should be put on its head. Water awakens the power of Shivling. It is then stabilized by bilvapatras. Bilvapatra is very dear to Shiva, but he is offered after water.

First of all, anoint with pure water or Ganga water. Then offer paan, dhatura, cannabis, ash, sandalwood, fruits etc. and chant the mind of the mind. Worshiping with pure and uninterrupted mind like water will interview Shiva.
