Western Champaran: Demand for outrage, confirmation and honorarium increase in the meeting of sanitation workers, all said in one voice that if their demands are not met soon, they will be obliged to agitate.
Yogapatti (Western Champaran): A one -day meeting of sanitation workers and supervisors working under the Lohia Swachh Bihar Abhiyan was held in Yogapatti Block campus on Saturday. The meeting was chaired by District President Shiv Kumar, while the stage was conducted by Amit Kumar Gud.
In the meeting, the personnel accused the government of neglect over their five -point demands. District President Shiv Kumar informed that cleanliness observers have been appointed by the Rural Development Department in about 8,000 gram panchayats of the state on contract, but no concrete initiative has been taken despite the demands for the last three years.
Chief guest Lauria MLA Vinay Bihari also justified the demands of the personnel and said that according to the instructions of the Chief Secretary, the cleanliness supervisors should have a system of sitting in the Panchayat Sarkar Bhavan and they should get all the benefits of the contract workers.
District Treasurer Anil Kumar Ram said that cleanliness workers are working continuously from 6 am to evening. In return, supervisors are given ₹ 5,000 to ₹ 7,500, while hygiene personnel are given only ₹ 1,500 to ₹ 3,000 monthly honorarium, which is very low in the current inflation rate.
The same Gyan Singh demanded the government to declare sanitation workers as state workers, guarantee service for 60 years, and permanentness. District member Sanjeet Kumar raised the demand for honorarium growth, insurance facility, and disposal of pending payments.
Many sanitation workers and supervisors were present in the meeting including Sanjeet Kumar, Bachlal Mukhiya, Binay Kumar, Anil Kumar, Rajkishore Kumar, Sanjay Chaudhary. Everyone said in one voice that if their demands are not met soon, they will be obliged to agitate.
