In view of the huge crowd on the festival, Delhi Metro has made a major change in its time-table. It may happen that you reach the station and find out that the metro has left.

DMRC has clarified that there will be a change in metro timings on October 19 and 20, so be sure to know this new schedule before leaving home.

Chhoti Diwali (19 October, Sunday) – ‘Extra’ service will be available!

Usually the metro starts at 7 am on Sunday, which causes some problems for those traveling early in the morning. But DMRC has given a good news on Chhoti Diwali:

  • This Sunday, i.e. on October 19, metro service on Pink, Magenta and Gray lines will start one hour earlier, i.e. from 6 am. Timings on remaining lines will remain the same as before.

Diwali (20 October, Monday) – Return home early!

This is the most important update, which you should not ignore at all. Metro service will end early on Diwali, i.e. 20th October.

  • The last metro from the last station of all lines will leave at 10 pm instead of 11 pm. This also includes the Airport Express Line.
  • Yes, during the day the metro will run as per its normal time-table, except that the last train at night is one hour earlier.

During festivals, there is huge crowd at bus stands and railway stations. In such a situation, make your plans keeping in mind the changed metro timings, so that your Diwali happiness does not diminish.
