According to him, the figures of crime in Bihar are often seen in the months of May and June. He has directly cited unemployment of agricultural workers and farmers as the main reason behind this growth.
Kundan Krishnan said this while addressing an important workshop of the Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) at the Police Headquarters. He explained that usually, when agricultural work is completed and farmers and agricultural workers do not have any special work after harvesting, they sit empty. This emptiness several times takes them on the wrong path and the possibility of indulging in some criminal activities increases. According to his analysis, this is the reason why the months of May and June become relatively more sensitive in terms of criminal incidents in the state.
The DGP also indirectly confirmed Kundan Krishnan’s statement that, analysis of criminal incidents reveals that criminals are also coming out of Bihar and sometimes in criminal cases their identity comes as a common citizen, ie farmers or agricultural laborers. This means that the criminals are not coming from outside, but they are from the same parts of the society which are probably facing financial troubles or fall into wrong association in free time.
The ADG has also instructed the authorities to adopt a new approach to deal with these seasonal offenses. He said that the police should identify such activities and these days when people do not have work and keep a special watch on them. He believes that crimes can be curbed by understanding such a trend and making strategy accordingly. He clarified that it is very important to continuously keep an eye on criminals to curb crime, especially at a time when crime is expected to increase due to seasonal unemployment. This is a new and socio-economic aspects of crime control in Bihar.
