News India Live, Digital Desk: Amidst the big upheaval in the politics of Bihar, now all eyes are on the swearing-in ceremony of the new government. According to sources, this new NDA government led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may start its journey with a ‘small cabinet’. Only a few select senior leaders will take oath as ministers along with the Chief Minister, while the full expansion of the cabinet will be done later. At present, intense brainstorming is going on between BJP, JDU, LJP (Ram Vilas), HAM and RLM regarding the names of ministers and distribution of departments.
Possible swearing in ceremony
According to Raj Bhavan sources, the swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister may be held this week. It is believed that initially only the Chief Minister and the two Deputy Chief Ministers (if decided) will take oath along with 5-7 ministers. The main reason behind keeping the cabinet small is to create harmony among the allies and to create consensus on the creamy seats of the departments.
Trouble over the list of ministers
A round of discussion is going on among the constituent parties of NDA regarding the formation of the cabinet:
BJP: This time, the party is trying to solve caste equations (backward and extremely backward cards) along with giving opportunities to new and young faces.
JDU: After Nitish Kumar goes to Rajya Sabha, there is doubt as to who will become minister from JDU’s quota. The party is in favor of retaining its old loyalists.
Role of Chirag and Manjhi: Chirag Paswan’s LJP (R) and Jitan Ram Manjhi’s ‘Hum’ party have made demands for some specific departments. The allies are especially keeping an eye on the ministries related to rural development and construction.
Final decision is being taken in Delhi
Many leaders of the state leadership of BJP are currently camping in Delhi. The final list of ministers is yet to be approved by the central leadership. Only after discussion with the Prime Minister and the Home Minister, it will be decided how many and which departments will be given to which party. Upendra Kushwaha’s RLM has also been promised a respectable share.
Emphasis will be on good governance and development
With the formation of the new government, a blueprint is being prepared to speed up the development works in the state. The purpose of the small cabinet is to take quick decisions and complete pending projects. Once the dispute over portfolios among all the allies is resolved, then in the second phase the cabinet will be expanded to include the remaining ministers.
