The general public has once again suffered a major shock on the inflation front. Amidst the skyrocketing prices of petrol and diesel, there has been a huge increase in the prices of CNG and piped cooking gas (PNG). Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has announced to increase the prices of gas in the country’s financial capital Mumbai and its surrounding areas.
After this latest increase, the rate of CNG in Mumbai has increased to Rs 86 per kg. Not only driving, but now the kitchen budget has also deteriorated because the price of cooking gas (PNG) supplied through pipes has also been increased by 52 paise per unit. Let us tell you that earlier last week, CNG prices were also increased in the country’s capital Delhi-NCR, where the prices had increased for the fourth time since May 15.
Prices increased for the second time in Mumbai, direct impact on 31 lakh families
Now CNG consumers in many major areas including Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Andheri and Kurla will have to pay Rs 86 per kg. Along with this, the increase in PNG prices is going to have a direct impact on the budget of about 31 lakh houses in the area. According to reports, Mahanagar Gas Limited had earlier increased the prices on May 14, when CNG prices were increased by Rs 2 per kg. This means that this is the second major attack on the public within a month.
Why did CNG and PNG become expensive? Know the company’s logic
On this sudden increase in prices, officials of Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) say that due to global tension and geopolitical conditions, the gas supply chain has been adversely affected. Due to this crisis, the company has to depend on other expensive sources to meet the gas shortage. Apart from this, the continuous rise in the prices of crude oil in the international market and the fall in the value of rupee against the dollar has made the import of gas very expensive. To reduce the burden of this additional cost, CNG has been increased by Rs 2 per kg and PNG by 52 paise per unit.
What are the CNG rates today in Delhi-NCR and UP-Rajasthan?
According to the latest data available on the official website of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), CNG prices in other major cities of the country remain as follows:
-
Kanpur: Rs 94.42 per kilogram
-
Hamirpur: Rs 94.42 per kilogram
-
Ajmer: Rs 92.44 per kilogram
-
Noida: Rs 91.70 per kilogram
-
Ghaziabad: Rs 91.70 per kilogram
-
Meerut: Rs 91.58 per kilogram
-
Delhi: Rs 83.09 per kilogram
Petrol and diesel prices stable today
Amidst this fire in the prices of CNG and PNG, there is news of some relief for the consumers of petrol and diesel. Today, there has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel from the government oil companies and the rates are stable at the old level. However, in this current month, the prices of petrol and diesel have also been increased four times, due to which the rate of petrol has crossed the figure of Rs 110 per liter in many big cities of the country.
