News India Live, Digital Desk: Dragon has once again hatched a new conspiracy to fuel his expansionist policies in the border areas. China has formed a new ‘county’ (district) in the strategically important Xinjiang province, close to the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Afghanistan border. This move by China has put Indian security agencies on alert mode. India has expressed its concerns several times in the past over China’s increasing military and administrative presence in the region, but China is not desisting from its actions.

Why is this area strategically important?

This new district established by China in Xinjiang is directly adjacent to the borders which are very sensitive from security point of view for India. The area is not only close to PoK but also lies near Afghanistan’s Wakhan Corridor. Experts believe that under the guise of this administrative reshuffle, China wants to further strengthen the deployment of its army (PLA) on the border. With the formation of the new district, it will be much easier for China to develop infrastructure, build roads and rapidly transport military logistics here.

India’s concern and diplomatic stand

India has always strongly opposed any Chinese activity in PoK, as it is an integral part of India. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is already a challenge to India’s sovereignty and now the formation of this new district is adding fuel to the fire. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has given clear indications that any activity that alters the status quo near the disputed areas will not be accepted. This move is being seen as another attempt to encircle India.

Security agencies keep a close eye

According to sources, China has started rapid development work in this new district. New houses, communication towers and surveillance systems are being installed here. It is believed that China can use these civilian settlements for spying and keeping an eye on the border. Indian Army and security agencies are closely monitoring this ongoing movement across the border. This issue is also likely to be raised in international forums, as it is a threat to the peace of not only India but the entire region.
