News India Live, Digital Desk: National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Vice Presidential candidate CP Radhakrishnan has received full support of Janata Dal United (JDU). Bihar Chief Minister and JDU chief Nitish Kumar himself announced it. This announcement gives an important message in the political corridors that the NDA remains a strong unity in the coalition.

The BJP nominated Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan as its candidate for the Vice Presidential election on 17 August 2025, the decision was taken after a meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Board, including senior party leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. CP Radhakrishnan, who is an experienced BJP leader from Tamil Nadu, has more than four decades of public life, including services as Lok Sabha MP and Governor.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced in a post on Monday (18 August 2025) on ‘X’ (East Twitter), “The decision to make Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan ji a candidate for the post of Vice President from NDA is welcome. Confers the solidarity of the coalition

The Vice President is elected by an electoral college with members of both houses of Parliament, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members.[2] The current Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from his post on July 21, after which the post was vacant.[6][9] CP Radhakrishnan’s candidature is being seen as a recognition of his grassroots association, two -time MP, and his administrative skills as the Governor of two states. Senior BJP leaders, including Rajnath Singh, have also contacted opposition parties to raise the support of Radhakrishnan for this post.
