This gives us an opportunity to convert small savings into big capital. But many times it happens that we change our mobile number or email ID due to change of job, city or any other reason, but forget to update it in our SIP or mutual fund.

This seems like a small mistake, but it can become a big problem in the future. If your mobile number or email ID is not updated, you will not be able to receive any important information, OTP or alerts related to your investment. In such a situation, if you suddenly need money and want to withdraw money from your SIP, your work may get stuck due to non-receipt of OTP.

But now you don’t need to panic. Technology has made this work very easy. Now you can update your mobile number and email ID in your SIP/Mutual Fund right from the comfort of your home without any hassle.

How to update KYC online?

The two easiest ways are:

Method 1: From CAMS or KFintech website

CAMS and KFintech are the two largest registrar and transfer agencies (RTAs) in India, which maintain records of most mutual fund companies.

1. Visit Website: First of all you go to the website of CAMS (camsonline.com) or KFintech (kfintech.com).
2. Find KYC section: On the website you will find a section like ‘Services for Investors’ or ‘Investor Zone’. Inside this you have to find the option of ‘Update Contact Details’ or ‘KYC’.
3. Enter PAN number: Now you will be asked for your PAN card number, because all your investments are linked to it.
4. Enter new number/email: After entering the PAN number, enter the new mobile number or email ID you want to update.
5. Verify with OTP: An OTP will be sent to both your new and old mobile number (and email) for verification. You will have to confirm your identity by entering both these OTPs.
6. Job complete! : Once the OTP verification is done, your request will be submitted and your new details will be updated within some time.

Method 2: From the app through which SIP is done

If you do SIP through Groww, Zerodha Coin, Paytm Money or any other app, then this task is even easier.

1. Go to the app’s profile/settings: Open your app and go to the ‘Account Details’ or ‘Profile/Settings’ section.
2. Edit contact details: Here you will get the option to change your registered mobile number and email ID.
3. OTP Verification: Here too, for security, OTP will be sent to your old and new numbers, once confirmed, your details will be updated.
