News India Live, Digital Desk: Due to the Iran-Israel war, the security system in the entire Gulf region has collapsed. India’s Ministry of External Affairs has put the embassies of Qatar, Turkey and Syria on high alert to ensure the safety of their citizens. Thousands of Indian passengers are stranded in different countries due to closure of airspace.

Qatar: Services temporarily closed at Doha Embassy

The Indian Embassy in Doha has officially announced that 2 March 2026 All regular consular services (passport, visa, verification) will remain closed.

Advice: Indians have been asked to stay away from military bases and follow the ’emergency alert’ of local authorities.

Turkey and Syria: flights banned

Hundreds of flights were canceled or diverted at Turkey’s Istanbul Airport and Sabiha Gokcen Airport.

Istanbul Alert: The Consulate General of India in Istanbul is in constant touch with the airlines and stranded Indian passengers. Passengers have been advised to check the status with the airlines before going to the airport.

Syria: There is already a tense atmosphere in Syria, but after the latest attacks, a handful of Indians present there have been asked to stay in safe places and avoid non-essential travel.

Airspace closed: More than 400 flights affected

Global aviation service has come to a standstill due to 11 countries of the Middle East (Iran, Israel, UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia etc.) closing their airspace or changing routes.

Impact on India: Airlines like Air India, Indigo and Vistara have canceled many of their international flights. More than 350 flights were canceled on Sunday alone.

Strictness of DGCA: DGCA has given strict instructions to Indian pilots not to fly over the war zone, due to which the timing of flights to Europe and America has increased by 2-3 hours.

External Affairs Ministry’s appeal: “Stay alert, stay in touch”

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has spoken to his counterparts from Qatar, UAE, Bahrain and Iran. India has appealed to all parties to exercise restraint so that the safety of civilians can be ensured. This situation remains quite challenging for millions of Indian workers working in Gulf countries.
