Central government will give up to 60 percent subsidy in Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, 90 applications received

Jagdalpur, May 27 (HS). The Prime Minister Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme of the Central Government has started in Chhattisgarh as well. Due to the code of conduct, people are being registered but solar plant connections are not being given. After June 4, the common people will get the benefit of this scheme. With this, every family will be able to get up to 300 units of free electricity. The saved electricity can also be sold.

So far, applications from more than 90 people have come from seven blocks of Bastar district, Jagdalpur, Bastar, Bakawand, Lohandiguda, Tokapal, Darbha, Bastanar. It is expected that its number will increase further after June 04. Under the scheme, up to 40 percent subsidy will be given by the central government to the families for installing solar panels on their roofs. The central government started the free electricity scheme in homes on 15 February 2024. If the consumption of your house is up to 150 units, then you will have to install a solar panel of one kilowatt, whereas if the consumption is from 200 to 250 units, then you can install a solar panel of up to two kilowatts. On consumption of more than 300 units, you will have to install a solar panel of three kilowatts. Under the PM Suryaghar Yojana, 60 percent of the expenditure amount of a two kilowatt solar plant will come into the account of every family as subsidy. Similarly, for a three kilowatt solar plant, an additional 40 percent subsidy will be available on a one kilowatt plant.

Savita Kashyap, Assistant Engineer, CREDA, said that under the scheme, the house owner has to register through the PM Surya Ghar App to avail the benefits of PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. This app can be downloaded through Play Store. She said that under this scheme, the department was initially given the target of benefiting only 10 people, which has been accomplished. The promotion of the scheme has started by the CREDA department. Application for PM Solar Home Free Electricity Scheme can be made through the app. Subsidy is also fixed under this scheme. A subsidy of Rs 30 thousand will be given on installing a rooftop solar panel of one kilo watt, Rs 60 thousand on two kilo watt and Rs 78 thousand on installing a solar system up to three kilo watt. On installing a system of more than three kilo watt, the house owner will have to pay for the panel system of additional kilo watt. Permission to install solar panels will be given by the electricity department only according to the electricity consumption of the house.

CREDA officials said that a middle class family consumes 350-400 units of electricity every month. For such families, a 3 kW plant is installed which produces about 360 units of electricity. Installing this plant costs the consumer around Rs 2 lakh. The central government returns Rs 78,000 as subsidy to the account. That means the cost of this plant will be around Rs 1.25 lakh. If it is added to the monthly electricity bill, the entire cost will be recovered in five years. After this, the electricity used will be free.
