News India Live, Digital Desk: The excitement of Holi has started rising in Kanha’s city Braj. Today in Ladli Ji Mandir (Shriji Mandir) of Barsana laddu maar holi Is being celebrated. Here instead of gulal and water colors, tons of laddus are showered on the devotees. Lakhs of devotees from India and abroad have reached Barsana to see this scene.

Why is Laddu Maar Holi played? (The Legend Be hind Tradition)

There is a very sweet mythological story behind this tradition, which has been going on since the Dwapar era:

Holi Invitation: According to mythological beliefs, Mother Radha’s father Vrishabhanu ji had sent an invitation to play Holi to Lord Krishna’s father Nand Baba in Nandgaon.

Expression of happiness: When Nand Baba accepted this invitation and sent his priest (Panda) to Barsana to give the good news, Vrishabhanu ji happily presented a plateful of laddus to Panda ji.

Rain of laddus: Panda ji was so happy that he started dancing right there and throwing laddus at the Gop-Gopis standing nearby. The Gopis also threw laddus at him jokingly. Just from that day, ‘Laddoo Maar Holi’ started as the official welcome of Holi in Barsana.

How is this festival celebrated?

Panda welcome: When the Panda (messenger) from Nandgaon reaches Shreeji Temple with the message of Holi, the Goswami community gives him a grand welcome.

Shower of Prasad: Laddus are thrown on the crowd of devotees from the top of the temple. It is believed that the one who receives this ‘Prasad’ of Laddus is very fortunate.
