Those who illegally encroach on government lands in Prayagraj are no longer safe. On the orders of District Magistrate (DM) Manish Kumar Verma, a large-scale campaign is being run in all the tehsils of the district, so that government and Gram Sabha lands can be vacated. Under this action, on Monday, 18 such lands were freed from encroachment at different places in the district, which were under illegal occupation by people for the last 9 to 16 years.
Bulldozers operated in these areas, lands were evacuated
- Soraon and Karchana: Road land in Purbanara village of Soraon tehsil and barn land in Chaubara were vacated. At the same time, the encroachments on the roads in Bhamokhar, Sehra and Muradpur villages of Karchana were removed. The administration also took possession of the new fallow land in Jagauti village.
- Phulpur and Koraon: The approach roads in Sarayamadan village of Phulpur tehsil and the pond land in Jafarpur alias Babuganj were freed from illegal encroachment. Similarly, Chakmarg (path along the fields) in Bhagesar and Deibandh villages of Koraon was evacuated. Encroachments were also removed from roads in Bhelaon and Chitauri of Bara tehsil.
- Big action in Sadar, Handiya and Meja also: This campaign was not limited to just a few tehsils. The encroachments on the drain in Bhiti of Sadar tehsil and on the road in Timra were removed. The pasture land in Basnehata of Handia and the road in Bheski were freed. At the same time, illegal encroachments were also removed from the lands of Tikri and Jhariyahi villages of Meja tehsil.
Direct eye of District Magistrate (DM), negligence will not be tolerated
District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma has kept this work on top priority. He has given strict instructions to all SDMs and concerned officers that illegal encroachments on government and Gram Sabha lands should be removed immediately and within a time limit. He himself is reviewing this campaign every day.
The officials clearly say that as per the intention of the government, this campaign will continue and strict action will be taken against any officer or employee who commits any kind of negligence in this.
