
In a village in Bihar, amidst the joys of marriage, there was a sudden commotion when some anti-social elements created a ruckus during the reception of the wedding procession. The matter escalated so much that instead of auspicious songs, sounds of shouting and uproar started echoing in the village. It is alleged that during the wedding ceremony, some bullies of the village not only forcibly made the groom get down from the mare, but also misbehaved with him. The victim’s side says that when they protested, the accused used caste-related words, abused and assaulted the entire family, due to which the wedding rituals were stopped midway.

There was an atmosphere of dancing and singing all around and people were engrossed in celebration. According to eyewitnesses, during this time some local bullies came there and blocked the way for the wedding procession. They objected to seeing the groom on the mare and tried to force him down. When the groom’s relatives and wedding guests protested, the accused attacked him with sticks. This sudden attack created panic in the wedding procession and many people started running here and there to save their lives.
Accused of making caste based remarks, victim’s family appeals to police for justice
The victim’s family is extremely scared and frightened after the incident. The groom’s father has lodged a written complaint with the police and has made serious allegations against some named people of the village. The complaint states that the bullies deliberately targeted his caste and made derogatory and caste-based comments. He says that even today such narrow minded people are present in the society who are unable to tolerate the happiness of others. The victim’s side has demanded the administration to take the strictest action against the accused under the Scheduled Caste/Tribe (SC/ST) Act and provide security to the family.
Police registered FIR, heavy force deployed in village in view of tension
As soon as information about such a big uproar was received at the wedding ceremony, the police from the local police station immediately reached the spot with its force. The accused had fled from the spot before the police arrived. Considering the sensitivity of the matter and the caste tension created in the village, the police administration is very alert. Additional police force has been deployed to maintain peace in the village. Police officials say that an FIR has been registered in the case and raids are being conducted at possible locations to arrest the accused. The police have appealed to both sides to maintain peace and have assured of strict action against those who take law into their own hands.
