Today we are going to tell you about two such elections of Bihar Legislative Assembly, which changed the direction of politics of the state. One election was when the Nitish Kumar and BJP pair brought such a storm that the opposition was almost wiped out, and the second election when Nitish and Lalu, who were stunned, together gave the BJP a strong defeat.

That election of 2010, when NDA gets 85% seats

The 2010 Bihar assembly election was the summit of Nitish Kumar’s ‘Good Governance Babu’. JDU, who was contesting in the alliance with the BJP, registered a historic victory. In this election, the NDA made a record by winning 206 out of 243 seats. This was about 85% of the total seats.

In this election, JDU emerged as the largest party with 115 seats, while the BJP also won 91 seats by performing brilliantly. This was the period when the Nitish-BJP pair was considered unbeatable in Bihar.

On the other hand, for Lalu Prasad Yadav’s RJD and Congress, this election was like a nightmare. RJD was reduced to its worst performance and could get only 22 seats. At the same time, the condition of the Congress contesting the election alone became even thinner and it was reduced to just 4 seats.

Changed dice in 2015: When Lalu-Nitish’s pair did wonders

Five years later, in 2015, the politics of Bihar took a big turn. After separating from BJP, Nitish Kumar joined hands with his biggest political rival Lalu Prasad Yadav. JDU, RJD and Congress together formed ‘Grand Alliance’ and took to the ground to stop the BJP’s victory chariot.

Everyone was surprised when the results came. The Grand Alliance defeated the BJP -led NDA and won 178 out of 243 seats. In this election, Lalu Prasad Yadav’s RJD emerged as the largest party by winning 80 seats. Nitish Kumar’s JDU got 71 seats, while the Congress also took advantage of the opportunity and captured 27 seats.

At the same time, the BJP, which won 91 seats in 2010, was reduced to just 53 seats in this election. This election was proof that the right social equation and alliance in Bihar could turn any wave.

Both these elections are like two different chapters of Bihar politics, which show that the people here sometimes voted in the name of unilateral development, sometimes on the basis of social equations. These results are still like a case study for political analysts.
