The Central Government has decided to grant additional Special Security Allowance (SSA) 20% of their basic pay to commandos posted in Z Plus and Z Plus (ASL) security category of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). However, personnel posted under other categories like Z, Y Plus, Y and X will not get this allowance.

Highlights of the order:

  1. Who will get allowance:
Special Security Allowance will be available only to CAPF personnel posted in Z Plus and Z Plus (ASL) category.
  2. Rate of Allowance:
Commandos will be given an additional allowance of 20% of their basic pay.
  3. Affected force:
This decision will be applicable to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel who are deployed in the security of top VIP individuals falling under Z Plus category.

Increasing demand for special security duty

CRPF and CISF had already demanded special allowance for their commandos, as SPG personnel get 55% of their pay and NSG personnel get 40% additional pay.

VIPs who will get this security:

There are around 35 VIPs who get security in the Z+ category in India, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Nitin Gadkari, Kiren Rijiju, industrialists Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani. Like prominent names are included.

Responsibility and Challenge of CAPF Personnel:

The commandos deployed for Z Plus security duties perform their responsibilities with the highest level of preparation and vigilance. This allowance is given in recognition of their hard work and specific responsibilities.

This decision is being considered an important step towards boosting the morale of CAPF personnel and honoring their service.
