In fact, the Home Ministry is going to launch ‘Bharatpol’ in India, which will pave the way for sharing information about criminals on the lines of Interpol and taking immediate action against them. It will be launched by Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on January 7. Let us know how it will work, why is it needed and what are the benefits?

What is Bharatpol?

The objective of Bharatpol is not only to catch criminals but also to take timely action against them and root out crimes. It is an advanced online portal, developed by CBI. He has been prosecuted. It is yet to be launched officially.

What is Interpol?

Interpol i.e. International Criminal Police Organization is the largest international police organization in the world. It is an organization that coordinates internationally between the police of all countries. It is a consortium of investigative agencies from 195 countries.

Through which information about criminals is exchanged and international notices are issued for their arrest. CBI from India is involved in this. Their officers are appointed there. This institute has been functioning since 1923. INTERPOL is headquartered in Lyon, France.

How does Interpol work?

Suppose a man commits a crime in India. Then he fled to Switzerland. Now the problem is that Indian police suits do not work in Switzerland. In such a situation, Interpol will work to catch the criminal. India will give information about that accused to Interpol. After this a notice will be issued in his name. Interpol issues many types of notices. But there are two main ones. One yellow, which is for missing people. Another red notice, which is for wanted criminals/accused.

Why is Bharatpol needed?

State police and investigative agencies in India often have to resort to Interpol for information or to arrest criminals hiding abroad. In the current process, the state government has to first contact the CBI. After this CBI contacts Interpol and issues necessary notice. This entire process is not only complicated but also time consuming.

Bharatpol is being started to solve this problem. With its help, the process of issuing red notices, diffusion notices and other necessary Interpol notices against criminals will become quick and easy. Currently, if states want to track their request they again have to email or fax it to CBI, but police can track the request directly on BharatPol.

What notice will be given?

No, the notice will be issued by Interpol only. When information or location of a criminal is to be ascertained, the police can send a request directly to Interpol through Bharatpol. If Interpol accepts that request, a red notice, diffusion notice or other type of notice will be issued against the concerned criminal.
