The 18th season of the world’s largest T20 Cricket League Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) is currently being played in India. It is being organized among a total of 10 teams in various cities of India. Meanwhile, a big news has come, the BCCI has imposed a lifetime ban on Gurmeet Singh Bhamra, former co-owner of the Mumbai T20 League team, for trying to match match fixing.
According to reports, BCCI Lokpal Judge Arun Mishra has banned Gurmeet Singh Bhamra, former co-owner of the Mumbai T20 League team. He is accused of contacting Dhawal Kulkarni and Bhavin Thakkar for match fixing during the second edition played in 2019. Dhawal is a well-known face who has played for Mumbai Indians in IPL but has now retired. He has also played 12 ODIs and 2 T20 Internationals for India.
Gurmeet Singh Bhamra was also associated with the GT20 Canada League, which is now closed. He is no longer included in the Mumbai T20 League. Bhamra was a co-owner of Sobo Supersonics. It was not stated in the order how many years they have been banned, but according to the BCCI’s Anti -Corruption Code, this ban could be from 5 years to life.
The first edition of the Mumbai T20 League was played in 2018, followed by the second edition in the next year i.e. 2019. But after this, Korona impressed the tournament, after which the league was not played. This year will be the third edition of the tournament, whose brand ambassador is Rohit Sharma. Rohit also recently unveiled the trophy. It is expected that the league will begin after the end of IPL 2025.
