Arjun’s mysterious wife, who married under water and gave him the boon of being invincible.

News India Live, Digital Desk: The story of Mahabharata is not limited only to war, politics and knowledge of religion and unrighteousness, but there are many such amazing and unheard stories hidden in its layers which astonish us. We all know Draupadi, Subhadra and Chitrangada as Arjun’s wives, but very few people know about his fourth wife, who was a snake girl and whom Arjun was married to in the underworld.

This story is from the time when Pandavas were living in Indraprastha. According to a rule, when one brother was alone with Draupadi, no other brother was allowed to go there. Once Arjun accidentally broke this rule, as punishment for which he had to go into exile for 12 years and observe the vow of celibacy.

When Arjun drowned in Ganga

While wandering during his exile, Arjun reached Haridwar, i.e. Gangadwar. One day when he was bathing in the river Ganges and offering prayers to the Sun, some invisible force pulled him inside the water. Before Arjun could understand anything, he found himself in a wonderful and grand palace. This was Naglok.

A very beautiful woman was standing in front of him. he introduced himself Nagakumari Ulupi She was given as the daughter of Kauravya, the king of serpents. Ulupi told Arjun that she loved him deeply and wanted to marry him.

Arjuna’s dilemma and Ulupi’s argument

Arjun politely rejects Ulupi’s marriage proposal. He said, “O Goddess, I respect your love, but I am bound by the vow of observing the vow of celibacy for 12 years. Therefore I cannot marry you.”

Ulupi smiled after listening to Arjun and gave an argument to which Arjun had no answer. Ulupi said, “O Arjun! Your vow of celibacy is for Draupadi, not for me. Your vow is that you will not live with Draupadi for 12 years. Your vow will not be broken by accepting another woman. Be kind to me and accept me as your wife.”

Arjun was pleased with Ulupi’s reasoning and love and he agreed to the marriage.

One night marriage and priceless boon

Arjun spent that night with Ulupi in Naglok itself. From this union a brave son was born, whose name was Erawan Which later played an important role in the Mahabharata war.

When morning came, Ulupi not only bid farewell to Arjun, but also gave him a powerful boon which would be very useful to him in future. Ulupi gave a boon to Arjun that No creature or weapon will be able to defeat them in water and they will be able to live in water as per their wish.

This story is not just a love story, but it shows how fascinating the character of Arjun was and how vast and mysterious the world of Mahabharata was.
