News India Live, Digital Desk: On hearing the name of board exam, the heartbeats of most of the students become faster. And when it comes to Mathematics paper, this tension increases even more. “Will the paper be difficult?”, “Will I be able to solve all the questions?”, “What if I have forgotten some formula?”… these are the questions that roam in the mind of every student.
But what if we tell you that with a little smart planning and proper hard work, you can convert this ‘fear’ into ‘confidence’? Yes, scoring 100 out of 100 in mathematics is not a dream, you just have to focus on understanding instead of memorizing.
Let us know some practical and easy tips, which can help you in getting full marks in mathematics.
1. Your ‘Gita’ is NCERT book
Keep this in mind – your NCERT book is your ‘Gita’ or ‘Bible’ for CBSE board exams. 70-80% of the paper is directly based on NCERT concepts.
- What to do: Solve each question, each ‘Solved Example’ and each exercise question with your own hands at least two to three times. Don’t just see the solution, you have to solve it yourself. Don’t rush to any other book until you have a thorough grip on NCERT.
2. Make ‘Brahmastra’ from formulas
Formulas in mathematics are like your ‘Brahmastra’. If you do not remember the right formula at the right time, then even the easiest question starts appearing difficult.
- What to do: Take a separate notebook or some chart paper. Write all the formulas and important theorems (like Pythagoras Theorem) clearly on it for each chapter. Stick this list on the wall in front of your study table, so that your eyes fall on it while getting up and sitting. Make it your habit to simply read these formulas for 15 minutes every morning.
3. Sample papers are real ‘NET practice’
Why do players do ‘net practice’ before a cricket match? So that they can prepare for the real match. For you, sample papers and previous years’ question papers are ‘NET practice’.
- What to do: At least a month before the exam, start solving 2-3 sample papers a week. But there is one condition – put a watch and set a timer for exactly 3 hours and then start solving the paper. This will give you an idea of time management and you will know which section is taking you more time.
4. Make your weakness your strength
It is human nature to run away from things that seem difficult to us. If you are afraid of Trigonometry or Mensuration, then you will leave it and keep reading the same chapters again and again which you find easy. This is the biggest mistake.
- What to do: Make a list. Write down the names of those chapters or topics that scare you the most. Now make a vow that you will attack them first. With the help of your teacher, friend or YouTube, understand the concepts of those topics and solve as many questions as possible.
5. Presentation also has an impact
No matter how smart you are, if your paper is dirty and untidy, it does not make a good impression on the examiner.
- What to do: Keep your answer sheet clean. Leave proper gaps between questions. Make room for rough work by drawing a line on the right side of each page. Whatever your final answer, put it in the box. These small things can save you from losing half or one mark.
Remember, victory is achieved not by fear, but by fighting. Mathematics is not just a game of numbers, it is a test of your logic and confidence. Follow these tips and see, a score of 100 will not seem far away.
