News India Live, Digital Desk: Just one night before the counting of votes for the by-elections held on six assembly seats of Bihar, the stir in the RJD camp has intensified. Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav hurriedly summoned all the six candidates of the party contesting the by-election to Patna. After this meeting held at Rabri Devi’s official residence, various types of discussions have started in political circles.
The question is arising that what kind of emergency occurred just before the results that Tejashwi had to call this meeting?
Is the fear of ‘break’ troubling RJD?
Political experts believe there are many reasons behind this meeting. The biggest reason is believed to be the lack of confidence within RJD about its candidates. There is a fear within the party that if the results are not as expected or if a candidate wins in a close contest, then he might change sides.
Sources say that the party leadership is worried that some game like ‘Operation Lotus’ might be played by the NDA. Therefore, Tejashwi Yadav wants to give a message of unity by making all his candidates sit together even before the results.
What is the agenda of the meeting?
The main agenda of this meeting was to make all the candidates understand that no matter what the result is, they have to stand firmly with the party. Some special instructions were given to the candidates in the meeting:
- Be alert in the counting hall: They have been asked to be completely careful during counting of votes. Instructions have been given to closely monitor the counting of each round and immediately inform the party leadership if any discrepancy is noticed.
- Watch the victory procession: They have also been told that the Model Code of Conduct is in force till 16th November, hence no victory procession should be taken out.
- Mantra to stay united: The biggest message was that whether there is victory or defeat, everyone has to respect the party’s decision and not succumb to any kind of greed or pressure.
This meeting also shows the nervousness of RJD and also the strategy of Tejashwi Yadav, under which he wants to eliminate the possibility of any kind of ‘horse trading’ in advance. Now it will be interesting to see how effective this strategy of Tejashwi proves to be when the results come tomorrow.
