Patna, 29 October (HS). Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today transferred a total amount of Rs 101 crore directly into the accounts of 1 lakh 52 thousand flood affected farmers through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).

In the year 2024, after receiving reports from all the affected districts about the crop damage caused due to the floods that occurred as a result of the rains in the month of September and the rise in the water level of Ganga, Kosi, Gandak, Bagmati and other rivers, the affected districts will be affected under the Agricultural Input Grant Scheme. The compensation amount to the farmers is being given by the state government. In today's program this amount has been distributed for the first phase. After verifying the other applications received, the amount will soon be distributed to the remaining affected farmers.

During the program, Agriculture Department Secretary Sanjay Kumar Aggarwal, while giving information through presentation, said that due to the rise in water level in Ganga and other rivers, the agricultural areas of 66 blocks and 580 panchayats of 16 districts were affected due to the floods in the first phase. Due to excessive rainfall and increase in the water level of other rivers including Kosi, Gandak and Bagmati, the agricultural areas of 69 blocks and 580 panchayats of 16 districts were affected due to the second phase of flood. Each affected farmer is being given an agricultural input subsidy of Rs 17 thousand per hectare for irrigated area, Rs 8500 per hectare for non-irrigated area and Rs 22 thousand 500 per hectare for perennial crop. Subsidy is being given for a maximum of two hectares per farmer.
