News India Live, Digital Desk: RRB Group D Exam 2025 : There is a big and relieving news for crores of candidates who are dreaming of Group D job in Railways. The ongoing legal dispute regarding Railway Group D Recruitment 2025 has now ended. The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Delhi, giving its final verdict on November 12, 2025, has ruled in favor of the Railways and dismissed the petition filed by the candidates.
With this decision, the ban on the recruitment process has been lifted, and the way has been completely cleared for the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) to conduct the examination.
What was the whole matter?
This legal dispute was regarding educational qualification for recruitment. Some ITI pass candidates had filed a petition demanding that only ITI qualification should be made mandatory for Group D posts. Due to this petition, the Delhi High Court had earlier stayed the recruitment process, after which the matter was referred to CAT. CAT had directed to stop the recruitment process till the final decision is taken.
What did the court say in its decision?
CAT has made it clear in its decision that Railways has full right to decide the eligibility criteria for its recruitments. The court rejected the petition, justifying the policy of the Railways. This decision means that only the qualification given in the original notification for recruitment, i.e. 10th pass, will remain valid. Now candidates having both 10th pass and ITI qualification will be able to appear in this examination.
Now when will the Group D exam be held?
Earlier this examination was to start from November 17, 2025, but it was not possible due to the court case. However, now that the decision is out, it is expected that the Railway Recruitment Board will announce the new exam dates soon.
It is being estimated that the RRB Group D exam may be conducted in the last week of November or December 2025. Since more than 1.08 crore candidates have applied for 32,438 posts, the board may take some time to decide the new dates.
All candidates are advised not to pay attention to any kind of rumors and rely only on the information released on the official websites of RRB
