Palamu, May 27 (HS). The police have arrested the accused of kidnapping and raping a minor girl who was filling water at a hand pump within 48 hours of the incident. The accused was sent to judicial custody on Monday.
A 14-year-old minor girl was raped in the Manatu police station area of Palamu district on May 25. After the case was registered, the accused Devnath Singh alias Devnath Kumar was arrested. An FIR has been registered against the arrested accused under POCSO and other sections.
It is said that on May 25, the minor girl was filling water at the hand pump. In the meantime, Devnath Singh reached the spot and kidnapped the minor. After kidnapping, the accused took the minor to the river bank of the village, where he raped her. The victim informed the family about the whole matter, after which the family informed the Manatu police station about the whole matter.
After committing the crime, the accused fled and was hiding at the house of one of his close relatives. As soon as the police found out, they raided the house and arrested Devnath Singh. Palamu SP Rishma Rameshan said that the rape accused has been arrested.
