Municipal Corporation collected 64 crores more property tax than last year, Municipal Commissioner reviewed | News India


Ghaziabad, 31 August (HS). Municipal Commissioner Vikramaditya Singh Malik reviewed the property tax collection on Saturday. This year so far, the Municipal Corporation has collected 64 crores more property tax than last year. In the meeting, Municipal Commissioner Vikramaditya Malik directed to take action against the buildings exempted from tax and issue notices within a week. He also directed to organize tax collection camps as a campaign within a week on those flats in high rise societies which are exempted from tax.

The Municipal Commissioner informed that the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation has increased the property tax collection by 64 crores this year as compared to last year. In the last financial year, about 84 crore 61 lakhs were recovered from 1 April to 31 August. This year, working with a concrete action plan, 148 crore 15 lakhs have been recovered from 1 April to 31 August 2024. On which the Municipal Commissioner appreciated the work of the team. Similarly, it was also asked to make a plan to speed up the work. Moving forward in this sequence, the Municipal Commissioner directed to make a list of top 50 such defaulters who are big defaulters and take strict action against them. A list of 50-50 big defaulters has been prepared in all the zones, which has been targeted to recover 64 crores within about 1 week.

Chief Tax Assessment Officer Dr. Sanjeev Sinha said that as per the instructions of the Municipal Commissioner, the work of tax collection is going on continuously with hard work. Keeping in mind the convenience of the respected taxpayers, the work of tax collection is also going on through online process and tax collection is being done by organizing camps even on holidays. The Municipal Commissioner has given instructions to take strict action against commercial buildings, for which 10 days time has been given.
