A massive fire accident in a prestigious coaching center in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, has shaken the entire state. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken a very strict stand on this sensitive issue related to the safety of innocent students. The Yogi government came into action immediately after the accident and has ordered a high-level and impartial investigation into this entire matter. To get to the bottom of this high-profile accident and bring the culprits to book, a special investigation team of the most capable and strong IAS and IPS officers of the state has been fielded. From Lucknow to the administrative corridors, now everyone wants to know who are those big faces on whom CM Yogi has expressed so much trust.
Command of investigation handed over to these sharp administrative faces
Considering the seriousness of the Lucknow coaching accident, the government has included those officers in the investigation team who are considered experts in law and order and administrative investigation. According to sources, the command of the inquiry committee has been handed over to the senior IAS officer (Commissioner Level) of Lucknow division and the most experienced administrative officers of the district. Along with them, senior IPS officers of Uttar Pradesh cadre, who have a close understanding of law and order, and sharp captains of the Police Commissionerate have been added. The image of these officers has been very honest and working without any pressure. The Yogi government has given them complete freedom to investigate in depth every aspect of the accident, be it illegal construction or ignoring safety standards.
There will be forensic investigation into negligence in NOC and fire safety
This joint investigation team of IAS and IPS officers is preparing its report mainly on three major points. The first question is that how did this coaching center running in a residential or commercial complex get NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the fire brigade? Second, did the building have emergency exits and modern fire extinguishing equipment? The investigating officers are also monitoring which officials of the Local Development Authority (LDA) and the Municipal Corporation had turned a blind eye to this illegal operation. The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has given clear instructions that no matter how many senior officers the heat of the investigation reaches, no one should be spared.
Crackdown on coaching centers across UP including Lucknow
After this painful accident, there is panic not only in Lucknow but also in big educational hubs like Prayagraj, Kanpur, Varanasi and Noida. Based on the initial inputs of the investigation team, Lucknow district administration has started intensive checking of all other coaching institutes, hostels and PGs of the city. Strict instructions have been issued to immediately seal the centers where classrooms are being run inside the basement or where there is no proper arrangement for ventilation. Family members of the students and local residents say that this step of the government is commendable, but now it remains to be seen in how many days does this IAS-IPS duo submit their final report and what strict steps they take to make Lucknow safe.
