Nainital, March 01 (HS). The three-day 9th international conference on 'Current Perspectives in Agricultural, Biological and Applied Sciences for Sustainable Development' has started at Kumaon University. Many dignitaries from India and other countries also attended the inauguration of the conference being organized at the Deodar Auditorium in the Hermitage campus of the University on Friday.
As the chief guest in the conference, Dr. Laxmikant, Director of Vivekananda Institute of Agriculture and Environment, spoke about various aspects of sustainable agriculture, biodiversity of Uttarakhand and its benefits to farmers, various challenges of hill agriculture, non-availability of quality seeds, climate change and wild animals. Also talked about the loss.
Dr. Gábor Tkauli from Hungary discussed the importance of quality food over quantity and the role of integrated pest management in successful agriculture. 22 oral and 25 poster presentations of research work were also given in the conference.
