People of Ramsan village believe that 200 years ago Holika Dahan was used in this village and Holi was celebrated with great pomp, but on the day of Holi suddenly the entire village caught fire and many houses were burnt to ashes. After which so much panic spread among the people of the village that celebrating the festival of Holi was stopped.
What is the popular belief?
A popular belief behind the fire in the village is that the king of the village had insulted the saints. After this, the sages and saints got angry and cursed that the village would be set on fire on the day of Holi. After this, as soon as Holi was lit, a terrible fire broke out in the village and many houses in the village were burnt to ashes. They tried to celebrate Holi twice again but still the village caught fire. The entire village came under fire. Later the people of this village united and banned Holi and since then till today Holi is not celebrated in Ramsan village. The reason behind this is that due to the bad deeds of an arrogant king, some saints had cursed this village to become colourless, after which Holi is not celebrated in this village. This tradition has been going on since then. From then till now, neither Rang-Gulal nor Holika Dahan is played here.
What is tradition?
Years ago, due to a curse, a fire broke out in the village along with the burning of Holi. Evidence of this can still be found in the village today. Even today, whenever any digging is done, coal or ash is found from the ground, hence the youth of the village still believe in the words of the elders of the village. Due to the curse of the sage, even today the villagers in this village consider the holy festival like Holi as inauspicious and instead of burning Holi on the day of Holi, they celebrate this festival by keeping coconuts in the temple and distributing Prasad.
