Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said that to reduce the rising temperature of Indore, it is necessary to plant trees on a large scale here, because tree plantation is the cure for every disease, trees and plants reduce the temperature, recharge water and give us oxygen. Plantation also inculcates good values towards environmental protection in children. This campaign of planting 51 lakh trees is not an event. This is a public movement, in which we all have to join and work.
Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya was reviewing the 51 lakh tree plantation campaign in a meeting held at the city bus office on Sunday with doctors, lawyers and wrestlers of Indore city in the presence of Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav. Rajya Sabha member Banshilal Gurjar, public works in-charge Rajendra Rathod, Advocate Bar Association's Hitesh Inani, Archana Kher, wrestler Kripa Shankar Patel, Omprakash Khatri, Narendra Borasi Munna Borasi Raja Yadav and officials from various organisations were present in the meeting. On this occasion, various officials and organisations gave their suggestions regarding tree plantation.
Minister Vijayvargiya said that it is also important to know how and carefully the plantation should be done in a plantation drive organised on a large scale. If the plants wither after plantation, it should be ensured that another plant is planted there. He said that the place where plantation will be done on a large scale by any organisation, that plantation site will be named after that organisation. For example, the place where plantation will be done on a large scale by a team of doctors will be named Arogya Van, the place where plantation will be done by Bar Association will be named Nyay Van, the place where plantation will be done by wrestlers will be named Hanuman Van or Bajrangi Van.
Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav said that the current green cover in Indore is not ideal, to increase it we all have to cooperate in the 51 lakh sapling plantation campaign. For public participation and public cooperation in the 51 lakh sapling plantation campaign, a marathon will be organized on 30 June and cyclothon on 6 July. He said that Indore is number one in cleanliness and greenery is lagging behind, the Chief Minister of the state has set a target of planting 5.51 crore saplings across the state, in which Indore has set a target of planting 51 lakh saplings, in which everyone's cooperation is expected. It is our responsibility to take care of the plants after planting them.
