Rahul Gandhi gets relief, Bengaluru special court grants bail in defamation case

Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been granted bail by a special court in Bengaluru in a defamation case. This case is from the last assembly elections, when Rahul Gandhi had accused the then Chief Minister Basavaraj Bomai of corruption. After this, the BJP leader filed a case against Rahul.

In this case, BJP's lawyer Vinod said that during the 2023 assembly elections, Congress had published an advertisement in which it was said that BJP is a crisis solver government. This is a false allegation. On this, we approached the court. Two accused were granted bail. Rahul Gandhi sought exemption from personal appearance.

Let us tell you that Congress leader and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah are also guilty in this case, but the court granted bail to both of them. In this case, Karnataka BJP had accused the Congress of allegedly issuing false advertisements in mainstream newspapers. In the advertisement, the then BJP government of the state was accused of being involved in large-scale corruption during its 2019-2023 reign.

In its complaint, the BJP had said that the Congress had also published a 'Corruption Red Card' against the previous government, accusing it of taking 40 per cent commission in all public works.
