Guwahati, June 04 (HS). Out of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam, Congress has once again won 3 seats. Congress had also won three seats in the 2019 elections.
According to the data released by the Election Commission of India, Congress candidate Gaurav Gogoi has won from Jorhat by getting 751771 votes. Gaurav Gogoi has defeated BJP's current MP Tapan Kumar Gogoi by a margin of 144393. Tapan Kumar Gogoi has got a total of 607378 votes.
Ekam Sanatan Bharat Dal candidate Arun Chandra Handik got 9086 votes, Independent Raj Kumar Duwara got 8370 votes. Whereas, NOTA got 14555 votes.
Congress candidate and current MP Pradyut Bordoloi has won the Nagaon seat by getting a total of 788850 votes. Bordoloi has defeated BJP candidate Suresh Bora by a margin of 212231 votes. Suresh Bora has got a total of 76619 votes.
Aminul Islam of All India United Democratic Front got 137340 votes, Independent Sikha Sarma got 6620 votes, Independent Samsul Alam got 5069 votes, Independent Bipad Bhanjan Sarkar got 4885 votes, Anupama Barua of Jai Prakash Janata Dal got 4319 votes, Independent Nikhil Dekaraja got 3627 votes, Rabbul Haque of Rashtriya Ulema Parishad got 2559 votes, Independent Abu Shama got 2238 votes, Independent Abu Yusuf M. Rehan Uddin got 2030 votes, Santanu Mukherjee of Bharatiya Gana Parishad got 2010 votes, Saifullah Islam Chowdhury of Asom Jan Morcha got 1837 votes. A total of 11995 votes were cast on NOTA.
Congress candidate Rakibul Hussain has won against three-time MP Maulana Badruddin Ajmal from Dhubri Lok Sabha seat by getting a historic total of 1471885 votes. Rakibul Hussain's victory margin was recorded as 10 lakh 12 thousand 476. Rakibul Hussain is probably among those who got the highest number of votes in the country.
Hussain said that Ajmal, who has been a three-time MP from Dhubri seat, got only 459409 votes. Jabed Islam of Assam Gana Parishad got 438594 votes, S.M. Ziaul Haque of Bharatiya Gana Parishad got 12106 votes, Independent Farooq Khan got 10994 votes. Apart from this, many other candidates got less than ten thousand votes. Apart from this, a total of 15015 votes were cast on NOTA.
It is known that Rakibul Hussain was born on 07 August 1964 in Nagaon district. He studied BA from Nagaon College. Hussain contested the election for the first time in 2001 from Samaguri assembly constituency under Nagaon district. Since then he has been winning continuously. Hussain is MLA from 2001-06, 2006-11, 2011-16, 2016-21, 2021-26. He is the Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Assembly. He has held the post of minister of various ministries till 2016 in the then Congress-led Tarun Gogoi government.
