5 lakh water harvesting structures will be built in 20 thousand villages of the state

Jaipur, June 3 (HS). Additional Chief Secretary of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, Abhay Kumar said that water conservation works will be conducted extensively in the state through Chief Minister Jal Swavalamban Abhiyan 2.0. Under the campaign, 5 lakh water harvesting structures will be built in 20 thousand villages of the state in the next four years.

The Additional Chief Secretary said that this campaign will prove to be a lifesaver in providing adequate water to the common people in a dry state like Rajasthan. He asked to ensure active participation of the general public for the success of the scheme. He also directed the officials to complete all the works related to the campaign within the stipulated time. Kumar was reviewing the progress of the 'Key Performance Indicators' of the schemes of the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department at the Government Secretariat on Monday.

In the meeting, he directed the officials to prepare a road map to make Rajivika even stronger. He said that the program should be expanded by linking maximum number of women with livelihood in the scheme. Additional Chief Secretary said that through Rajivika, women in villages are becoming self-reliant by joining each other through self-help groups and are living their lives with respect. He also discussed with the officials about the problems faced in the successful implementation of Rajivika scheme due to geographical distance in the desert areas of the state and took suggestions from them regarding increasing the practicality of the scheme.

The Additional Chief Secretary said that as per the intention of the State Government, all the needy people of the State should get full benefit of the public welfare schemes of the Government. He instructed to work with full promptness to ensure that the benefits of the departmental schemes reach the last person. He said that the officers should work with responsibility and timeliness towards achieving the goals of the schemes of individual benefit and community participation.

He also reviewed the progress of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin, IAY and CMBPL Housing Scheme. He inquired about the current status of disputed and closed houses and gave instructions to ensure quick resolution of disputes.
