A two and a half year old child died after falling into a drain near his house in Vasai

Mumbai: A two-and-a-half-year-old child died after he fell into a drain near a house in Vasai, a municipal corporation official said.

The Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation fire brigade said the incident took place at Lohia slum in Phata, Vasai.

Two and half year old Narendra Goriwale's mother and father had gone to work and the child had gone out of the house while his grandmother was cooking food. Her foot slipped. Narendra drowned in the canal.

After a few minutes, the grandmother realized that Narendra was missing from the house. She informed the neighbor. Eventually, while searching, Narendra's body was found in the drain.

An officer of Vasai police station said that a case of accidental death report has been registered in this matter. Further investigation of the case is going on.
