In two separate cases of marijuana smuggling, one got 17 years of rigorous imprisonment and the other got 13 years of rigorous imprisonment

East Champaran, May 31 (HS). Special Judge Suryakant Tiwari of NDPS Court 2, after finding an accused guilty in the hashish smuggling case, has sentenced him to 17 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2 lakh. If the fine is not paid, he will have to serve an additional sentence of 6 months. The punishment was given to Girgesh Kumar, son of Master Babu, resident of Biharighat, Kanpur Dehat, UP.

In this case, an official complaint of Narcotics Control Bureau Patna was filed in the court, in which it was said that on 19 October 2018, the jawans of 47th Battalion SSB were checking near Ramgarhwa in Raxaul Ramgarhwa Main Road. During that time, a Tata Indica car came from Raxaul. During the checking, 43 kg of hashish was recovered from the trunk of the car.

During the trial, the special public prosecutor presented four witnesses in the court and presented the prosecution's side. After hearing the arguments of both the sides, the judge found the accused guilty under sections 20(B) (C) and 23 (C) and pronounced the above mentioned sentence. In another case of hashish smuggling, Special Judge of NDPS Court 2, Suryakant Tiwari, found one of the accused guilty and sentenced him to thirteen years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of two lakh rupees. If the fine is not paid, he will have to serve an additional sentence of six months. The sentence was given to Kishore Ram, son of Sudama Ram, a resident of Deoria of Nepal Pokhariya police station.

In this case, Inspector Rajnikant of Raxaul Customs Department handed over the arrested accused to the Narcotics Control Bureau, Patna. In which it was said that on 17 January 2021, a young man came on a red bike near the Shiva temple located at Balthar Sikta. The customs officer of the Customs Department tried to stop the said bike driver, but he started running away.

The police caught the fleeing youth. During investigation, 12 kg of hashish was recovered from the seat of his bike which he had hidden. On the application of NCB, the court took cognizance of the named accused and tried the case by framing charges. The special public prosecutor presented the prosecution side by presenting five witnesses in the court. After hearing the arguments of both the sides, the judge found him guilty under sections 20 (B) (C) and 23 (C) and pronounced the above sentence.
