Mirzapur, May 30 (HS). All preparations have been completed to conduct the elections in a fair, transparent and peaceful manner in the 79-Mirzapur parliamentary constituency in the seventh phase of the Lok Sabha elections. District Election Officer Priyanka Niranjan said that a total of 1352 polling centers and 2143 polling stations have been set up in the district for the voting to be held on June 1.
He said that in order to keep a strict vigil in all areas, five super zonal magistrates, 20 zonal magistrates and 188 sector magistrates have been appointed, besides six static magistrates who will be on tour in their designated areas on the polling day. Apart from this, arrangements have been made for videography at 55 booths as well as webcasting at 1073 booths. There are a total of 19 lakh 6 thousand 327 voters in the district. These include 9 lakh 99 thousand 567 men and 9 lakh 6 thousand 691 women and 69 third gender voters.
He said that for the convenience of the voters, elaborate arrangements have been made at all polling stations including provision of drinking water, shed, toilet, ramp, wheelchair for handicapped and elderly voters, lighting system and other minimum basic facilities.
Exercise your right to vote by submitting any one of the 12 documents
The District Election Officer said that if a person's name is in the voter list, he can exercise his right to vote by presenting any one of the 12 alternative documents. These 12 options include Aadhar card, MNREGA job card, photo pass book issued by banks or post offices, health insurance smart card issued under the scheme of the Ministry of Labor, driving license, PAN card, smart card issued by RGI under NPR, India passport, pension document with photo, service identity card with photo issued by the Central or State Government, Public Sector Undertaking Public Limited to its employee, government identity card issued to MPs and MLAs or Legislative Council members and Unique Disability ID (UDID) card issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India will be valid for voting.
Personnel will be able to vote at their duty booth only
Presiding officers and other polling personnel on duty at polling centres and voting stations who are voters of 79-Mirzapur Parliamentary Constituency will be able to cast their vote at their duty place-booth only.
121 elderly and disabled people cast their votes
The District Election Officer said that a total of 121 voters cast their votes by visiting the homes of voters above 85 years of age and disabled persons. Apart from this, government employees cast their votes at 451 voter facilitation centers.
Mobiles banned at polling booths
The District Election Officer said that no voter will carry a mobile phone inside the polling centre or voting place, nor will any photograph be taken inside the polling place. If this is done, strict action will be taken against the concerned person.
