Lok Sabha elections: Campaigning ends for Godda, Rajmahal and Dumka seats

Ranchi, May 30 (HS). Campaigning ended this evening in Godda, Rajmahal and Dumka Lok Sabha constituencies of Jharkhand. People who had gone to that area from outside for election campaigning etc. have also started leaving from there.

Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar said during a press conference at Nirvachan Sadan Dhurva on Thursday that strong security arrangements have been made for fair and fear-free voting on June 1 under the seventh phase of elections. Bike-borne quick response teams have also been deployed to deal with any untoward incident. Earlier there was Naxal activity in some areas but currently there is no intelligence input of Naxal activity in the area. Three booths of Dumka have been changed. The polling personnel will leave for the polling centers on Friday and all the polling personnel will return after voting on Saturday. He appealed that this time voting will take place throughout the day, so all voters must vote.

He informed that the total number of voters in the three parliamentary constituencies of Godda, Rajmahal and Dumka is 53,23,886. Among them there are 27,00,538 male, 26,23,315 female and 33 transgender voters. The total number of booths is 6258. Out of these, 489 booths are in urban areas and 5769 booths are in rural areas. 241 booths will be managed by women while 7 booths will be managed by handicapped and 11 booths will be managed by youth. 18 booths are unique.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that a total of 17,04,671 voters will take part in the voting on June 1 in the Rajmahal (reserved for Scheduled Tribes) parliamentary constituency. These include 8,51,165 men, 8,53,496 women and 10 third gender voters. There are a total of 2020 polling stations in this parliamentary constituency. Out of these, 127 are in urban areas and 1893 booths are in rural areas. 166 polling stations in this constituency will be completely operated by women. Similarly, 3 booths will be operated by the disabled and 6 booths by youth. 5 booths here are in the unique category.

A total of 15,91,061 voters will take part in the voting in Dumka (reserved for scheduled tribes) parliamentary constituency. These include 7,99,045 men, 7,92,010 women and 6 third gender voters. There are a total of 1891 polling stations in this parliamentary constituency. Out of these, 105 are in urban areas and 1786 booths are in rural areas. In this constituency, 70 polling stations will be completely operated by women. Similarly, 1 booth will be operated by the handicapped and 3 booths by youth. 11 booths here are in the unique category.

A total of 20,28,154 voters will take part in the voting in the Godda parliamentary constituency. These include 10,50,328 men, 9,77,809 women and 17 third gender voters. There are a total of 2347 polling stations in this parliamentary constituency. Out of these, 257 are in urban areas and 2090 booths are in rural areas.

Five polling booths in this constituency will be completely run by women. Similarly, three booths will be run by Divyangs and two booths by youth. Two booths here are in the unique category.
