New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that while the successful voting in Jammu and Kashmir has proved the Kashmir policy of the Modi government to be absolutely correct, the separatists have also voted heavily. Along with this, he assured that assembly elections will be held here before September 30.
He also claimed that the BJP did not resort to any religion-based campaign during the election campaign, but campaigned against reservation for Muslims, removal of Article 370 from Kashmir and implementation of Uniform Civil Code (UCC). If a religion-based campaign has to be taken to the people, then his party has done so and will continue to do so.
Statehood will be given after the election
In the interview, he said that after the Lok Sabha elections, the government will start the process of restoring the state status of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Regarding the relatively high voting percentage in the Kashmir Valley during the Lok Sabha elections, Shah said that he believes that there has been a big change in the valley. The voting percentage has increased there.
He said that some people used to say that the people of the valley do not believe in the Indian Constitution, but this election was held under the Indian Constitution. Those who wanted a separate country and those who wanted to go with Pakistan also voted with full enthusiasm.
'Kashmir policy proved right'
Shah said that I believe this is a big victory of democracy and a big success of the Modi government's Kashmir policy. When asked about the possibility of merging slave Kashmir with Jammu and Kashmir, Shah said that he personally believes that it should have been a part of India since 1947-48, but during the first war with Pakistan it was the jewel of that time. Lal Nehru was a part of it. It was taken away from us due to the ceasefire imposed by the government before time. If the ceasefire had been announced four days later, slave Kashmir would have been ours.
Shah also said that if the BJP returns to power, a Uniform Civil Code will be implemented across the country within the next five years after extensive consultations with all stakeholders. The UCC is a comprehensive social, legal and religious reform. He claimed that the Modi government will also implement 'one nation, one election' in its next term as the time has come to hold simultaneous elections in the country. This will also reduce costs.
from the Naxalite problem You will get relief
Amit Shah made a big claim that the country will be free from the Naxalite problem in the next two-three years. He said that except for a small area of Chhattisgarh, the entire country has become Naxal-free. There is no presence of Maoists in the so-called Naxalite corridor from Pashupatinath to Tirupati.
On the issue of ongoing violence in Manipur, he said that the government is working to bridge the trust gap between the Meitei and Kuki communities in Manipur. This process will gain momentum after the Lok Sabha elections are over. He said that due to the positive mandate received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP will get a big victory even in opposition-ruled states. The opposition is criticizing the Election Commission after seeing its defeat as certain.
EVM related questions answered
On the question being raised on EVMs, he said that these EVMs were in Telangana, Bengal and Himachal Pradesh, then how did BJP lose there? Actually, when you see defeat, you start crying in advance. The purpose of Congress's questions is to hide Rahul Gandhi's failure. He is looking for an excuse to go abroad on vacation from June 6.
