15 year record broken in Delhi, peak demand crossed 7 thousand in May itself

New Delhi, May 22 (HS). Delhi has broken its 15 year record in terms of electricity consumption in May itself. The demand for electricity here has crossed seven thousand MW. Electricity Minister Atishi said that at present Delhi is facing scorching hot winds. Due to this, the demand for electricity reached 7717 MW on May 21. Despite the scorching heat and huge demand, there is no problem in power supply in Delhi and there are no power cuts anywhere.

He said that often the consumption of electricity increases due to the humid heat in July-August, but this time the demand has increased a lot in May itself. In such a situation, it is estimated that the demand for electricity can reach eight thousand megawatts in July-August and the Delhi government is already ready for this.

Atishi further said that peak demand for electricity often comes in the months of July-August in Delhi. But on May 21, Delhi reached its historic demand. The peak demand of electricity in Delhi on May 21 was 7717 MW. This has been the highest demand for electricity so far in the history of Delhi. I am happy that despite the historic peak demand for electricity in May, there has been no problem in electricity supply in Delhi.

Despite such a peak demand in this scorching heat, the Kejriwal government is providing electricity 24 hours a day in Delhi. There is no load shedding or blackout anywhere in Delhi. Just as electricity supply has been going on in Delhi for the last 9 years, similarly, electricity is being supplied even in this scorching heat.
