Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday filed his nomination from Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh. During this, Congress President Malikarjun Kharge and his mother Sonia Gandhi were also present with him. At the time of Rahul's nomination, his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and her husband Robert Vadra were also present. Rahul Gandhi is contesting from this seat against BJP's Dinesh Pratap Singh. Dinesh Pratap had contested elections from the same seat in 2019 also.

Congress announced the names of its candidates for Rae Bareli and Amethi seats on Friday morning. While Rahul Gandhi is contesting from Rae Bareli seat, Kishori Lal Sharma has been given the ticket from Amethi seat, which is considered to be the stronghold of the Gandhi family. Sonia Gandhi has been MP from Rae Bareli. At present this seat is vacant after his entry into Rajya Sabha. Congress won from Rae Bareli in the 2019 elections.
Let us tell you that along with Rae Bareli, Rahul Gandhi is also contesting from Wayanad seat of Kerala. This is the second time that Rahul is contesting from two seats in the same election. Last time also he had contested elections from Amethi as well as Wayanad. While he lost from Amethi by about 50 thousand votes, he reached Parliament by winning from Wayanad with a bumper vote. Voting for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections has been completed in Wayanad.
