Amethi: Today (Monday) the political stakes have reached its peak in Amethi, the original seat of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Congress' Bharat Jodo Yatra reached Amethi today, Rahul-Priyanka did a road show, while Union Minister Smriti Irani, who was elected to the Lok Sabha by defeating Rahul Gandhi in 2019, also reached her parliamentary constituency today.

Actually, Amethi is considered the hereditary seat of the Nehru-Gandhi family.

Jawaharlal Nehru was elected from this constituency near Allahabad. It is from here that Sanjay Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi became MPs. From 2014 to 2019, Rahul Gandhi was elected from here and became MP. At that time Sonia Gandhi was elected from Rae Bareli seat of her mother-in-law Indira Gandhi.

The tide changed in 2019, Smriti Irani emerged victorious by defeating Rahul Gandhi on this seat which was considered a Congress stronghold. He also became a minister at the Centre. Rahul Gandhi reached Amethi today with his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. On the other hand, Union Minister Smriti Irani was also on a tour of her parliamentary constituency. There he launched a Samvad-Yatra, during which he visited villages in his Lok Sabha constituencies and nearby assembly constituencies. So Rahul-Priyanka did a grand road show (city tour) in Amethi today. In such a situation, workers of both the parties have also come face to face.

Samajwadi Party President and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav has written a letter to Rahul Gandhi to join Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra. He was also invited. So he became the driver of Rahul Gandhi's jeep and reached Amethi with him.

Naturally, Rahul-Priyanka got a grand welcome as soon as they entered Gauriganj area of ​​Amethi. Despite differences regarding seat sharing between Congress and SP, at that time only Akhilesh Yadav was on the driver's seat of the jeep.

Both Rahul and Smriti Irani addressed separate public meetings. Before this, a meeting of Congress leaders was held at the office in Gauriganj. In which party president Mallikarjun Kharge was also present.
