New Delhi. Suraj’s attitude has become harsh in many states of India. In the month of April itself, severe heat and heatwave have made life difficult for people in large parts of the country. Indian Meteorological Department (imd) has issued a fresh bulletin warning that this heat wave is going to increase further in the coming days. From Madhya Pradesh to Maharashtra and Odisha, the heat wave is reaching new heights.

Akola in Vidarbha currently remains the hottest area in the country, where the mercury has crossed 44 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has advised people not to leave their homes in the afternoon.

The situation remains worrying in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. Maximum temperature in Akola 44.2 degrees Celsius was recorded, which is currently the highest in the country. Apart from this, the heat in Amravati, Wardha and Nagpur has also broken the records of the last several years. Meteorologists say that the heat wave situation in Vidarbha may become more severe by April 21, although after that a slight drop in temperature is expected.

‘Double attack’ of humidity in Odisha and Bengal

People of Odisha and West Bengal in Eastern India are facing the double blow of heat and humidity. According to Bhubaneswar IMD Director Manorama Mohanty, the mercury has crossed 42 degrees in Titilagarh. The weather will remain extremely hot and humid in Odisha till 22 April and in the Gangetic regions of West Bengal from 19 to 22 April.

The only saving grace is that there is a possibility of light drizzle and strong winds along with thunder in some coastal areas, due to which the temperature may drop for some time.

Heat wave will prevail in these states (Heatwave Alert)

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a strong possibility of heat wave in the following areas for the next few days:

Central India: Eastern and Western Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha.

South India: Northern Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

East India: Odisha and Jharkhand.

Maharashtra: Marathwada and parts of central Maharashtra.

Apart from this, the effect of heat and humidity will also continue in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and coastal Karnataka, due to which ‘discomfort’ may increase.

Health Ministry’s advice: What to do and what not to do?

In view of the increasing heat and heat wave, health experts have issued guidelines to prevent ‘heatstroke’.

Stay hydrated: Keep drinking adequate amount of water, ORS or lemon water even if you do not feel thirsty.

Avoid afternoon sun: Minimize outdoor activities between 11 am and 4 pm.

Wear cotton clothes: Wear light colored and loose cotton clothes so that body temperature is controlled.

Recognize the symptoms: If symptoms like dizziness, severe headache or nausea occur, contact a doctor immediately.
