ED seal broken in Thane, agency lodged FIR; Action again on court order

A very shocking and audacious case has come to light from Thane, Maharashtra amidst the tight grip of the Central Investigation Agencies on the financial system of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his D-Company. Some unknown anti-social elements tried to forcibly occupy the flat of Dawood’s younger brother Iqbal Kaskar, who was in jail in serious cases of extortion and money laundering, which was attached by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) under the legal process. Ignoring the government seal and notice board, the accused broke the main lock of the flat and tore up the official notice in the possession of the central agency and threw it away. As soon as they got information about this atrocity, the officers of the investigating agency were shocked. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, ED immediately approached the special PMLA court, after which, based on the strict stand of the court and clear instructions given, not only the possession of the flat was regained in the presence of police force, but an FIR was also lodged against the lock breakers in the concerned police station of Thane under non-bailable sections. ED’s zonal office had attached its assets in 2022: Iqbal Kaskar came under the scanner for money laundering. The roots of this entire controversy are linked to extortion and illegal financial networks of the underworld. The Special Financial Investigation Branch of Mumbai Zonal Office-1 of the Enforcement Directorate had launched a major operation against the underworld in the year 2022. Meanwhile, while investigating the cases registered under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against Dawood Ibrahim, his accomplices and his brother Iqbal Kaskar, this luxurious residential flat in Thane was found to be linked to the proceeds of crime. After gathering the necessary legal evidence, the central agency had provisionally attached this flat on the orders of the court. After this attachment action, the main door of the flat was officially locked by ED and a detailed warning notice was pasted outside, which clearly mentioned that buying, selling, using or entering this property is a punishable offense under law. Notice torn by breaking the lock: Shocking revelation of illegal intrusion during inspection. After being under the direct control of the agency for many years, when ED officials recently reached this building in Thane for regular monitoring and physical verification, they were stunned to see the sight there. The investigation team came to know that some anti-social elements, flouting the government orders, had broken the official seal-lock of the flat with a hammer and had uprooted the warning notice posted outside. Prima facie it appeared that with the help of underworld contacts or local land mafia, a well-planned conspiracy was being hatched to take illegal possession of this seized property and take it under control through the back door. This act of breaking the seal of a central agency and forcibly entering government property was seen as a direct challenge to the rule of law, immediately after which the officials inspected the spot, prepared Panchnama and compiled all the evidence. Special PMLA court gave strict instructions: Possession restored with police force After breaking of official lock and confirmation of unauthorized intrusion, the Enforcement Directorate without any delay prepared a detailed report of the entire case and presented it before the special PMLA court in Mumbai. The court considered the seriousness of the case as extremely sensitive and gave a clear order to the officers of the Central Investigation Agency to take full assistance of the local police force if needed while maintaining law and order and to immediately restore the agency’s physical possession of the property. Following the court’s directions in letter and spirit, a high-level ED team raided the disputed flat again in the presence of Thane Police personnel, independent witnesses (panches) and videographers. Following the legal procedure on the spot, the old broken lock was replaced with a new strong lock, the keys were taken under official custody and the agency’s possession of the property was re-established. FIR registered in Kasarvadavali Police Station: Search for the accused intensified with new notice. Along with the restoration of possession, the investigating agency has tightened the legal noose to expose the faces who committed this audacity. On October 15, an FIR has been officially registered under the Indian Judicial Code and related acts against unknown accused and their patrons sitting behind the scenes at Kasarvadavali police station in Thane. Thane Police and Cyber Cell are now scanning the nearby CCTV footage to identify the lock breakers and suspicious persons moving in and out of the building. Police are also finding out whether the strings of this infiltration are connected to the close relatives of jailed Iqbal Kaskar or whether some local gang had planned to take over the Kurk flat. On the other hand, the ED has pasted a new, strict and big warning notice board at the main entrance of the flat, making it clear that if anyone tries to tamper with this property in future, the strictest criminal action will be taken against him.
