The long awaited wait of thousands of engineering and management aspirants dreaming of starting an executive career in Maharatna energy company Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) is now over. IOCL management has formally declared the result of Executive Recruitment Test (Computer Based Test – CBT) on the official portal. Candidates who appeared in this written examination conducted across the country under recruitment advertisement number IOCL/CO-HR/RECTT/2026/01 can now directly check their individual scorecard and qualifying status by visiting the official website iocl.com. From engineering graduates from AKTU, HBTI and other leading technical institutes in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai, the hustle and bustle has intensified as soon as the results have been released, as the selected candidates are now being shortlisted for the next stage of personal interview and group discussion.
Under this recruitment drive conducted by Indian Oil Corporation, a total of 470 vacancies are to be filled in various technical and non-technical cadres. These mainly include 351 posts of Graduate Engineer (Grade A), prestigious posts of Marketing Officer, Law Officer, Assistant Quality Control Officer and Diploma Engineer. Lakhs of candidates from across the country tried their luck in this examination due to the excellent pay scale, allowances available under the Grade-A Executive pay scale (₹50,000 to ₹1,60,000) and the status of working in a Maharatna company. IOCL Recruitment Cell has clarified that the category wise merit list and cut-off have been prepared on the basis of marks of computer based examination only. The candidates who have been successful in securing the prescribed cut-off marks in this written examination have been provisionally declared eligible for the next selection stages.
For the convenience of the candidates, IOCL has kept the result portal completely user-friendly so that the scorecard can be viewed without any technical hassle. To check the result, candidates should first visit the official website of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, iocl.com. After this, enter the ‘Careers’ or ‘What’s New’ section given above on the homepage. There the link of ‘Recruitment of Executives in Indian Oil Corporation Limited through Computer Based Test (CBT) – 2026’ will be displayed. On clicking this link, a new login page will open, where the candidate will have to enter his/her roll number or registration number and date of birth as password. Carefully fill in the security captcha code given on the screen and click on the ‘Login’ button. As soon as you login, the detailed scorecard of the candidate will appear on the screen, in which subject wise marks, total marks and eligibility status for the next stage will be recorded. Keep 2-3 printed copies of this scorecard safe for future use and verification at the time of interview.
After downloading the result, candidates should verify every detail entered in their scorecard very closely. The scorecard prominently displays the candidate’s full name, father’s name, roll number, registration number, branch or post applied for (like Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Marketing), date of birth, reservation category (General, EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST or PwBD) and actual and normalized marks obtained in CBT. If any discrepancy is noticed in the spelling of name, category or photograph of a candidate, he/she should immediately contact IOCL Recruitment Helpdesk or official email ID with proof of his/her identity card and admit card, so that no legal or procedural hurdles arise during the upcoming document verification.
For the candidates who have passed the written examination, this journey is only half completed, because the road ahead for the final selection is going to be very competitive. As per the official selection manual of IOCL, the candidates who are successful in CBT will now have to go through the rounds of Group Discussion (GD), Group Task (GT) and Personal Interview (PI). Group Discussion involves discussion on contemporary energy policies, global oil market, renewable energy transition and industrial scenarios, which tests the candidate’s communication skills and reasoning ability. Whereas in group tasks, teamwork, problem solving and decision making abilities are tested. After this, the final evaluation of technical knowledge, project experience and leadership qualities is done in personal interview by a board of senior officers.
Along with the result of computer based examination, the scope of branch-wise and category-wise minimum cut-off has also been determined by IOCL. The cut-off has been relatively high due to the large number of candidates in various engineering streams—such as mechanical and chemical engineering—while reserved categories have been given relaxations as per rules. While preparing the final selection list, there will be no reliance only on CBT marks, rather a combined merit list will be prepared by giving prescribed weightage to CBT, GD/GT and personal interview marks. Candidates who are successful in the interview will finally have to meet the stringent health standards of Pre-Employment Medical Examination (PEME), only after which the final offer of appointment will be issued.
Interview call letters will be sent soon to the registered email ID of shortlisted candidates and will also be uploaded on the portal. Selected candidates are advised to submit all their original educational certificates—such as 10th mark sheet, 12th certificate, B.Tech/B.E. OR Keep ready a complete set of original and self-attested copies of mark sheets of all semesters of Diploma, degree certificate, valid caste or EWS certificate issued by the competent authority, non-creamy layer certificate, experience certificate if applicable and photo identity card. Along with this, strengthen your understanding on the modern trends of Self-reliant India, Green Hydrogen Mission and Petroleum Refining in the energy sector so that you can face the questions of the interview board with confidence.
