Opposition upset over Navgram incident, questions raised on illegal construction in Shrirampur

Hooghly, 11 April (HS). After two people were buried under the wall in Navchakra area of Navagram under Uttarpara police station in Hooghly district on Thursday, opposition leaders opened a front against the alleged tendency of the ruling party of the state to extort and take bribes. After the incident, BJP candidate from Shrirampur Lok Sabha center Kabir Shankar Bose reached the spot and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased. He also questioned the attitude of the local administration after the incident and demanded an investigation into the matter.

Kabir Shankar Bose said that two people have died tragically. Even before this in the state, many people have lost their lives due to the collapse of under construction bridges and houses under construction. This time too two people have lost their lives. The attitude of the police after the incident is also not satisfactory. By barricading the incident site, instead of investigating the matter, the police are threatening the BJP workers. The police are still waiting to receive the complaint.

Kabir asked the question that two people had died unnaturally in this incident, why did the police not register a suo moto case and start investigating the matter? After all, what is being tried to hide by threatening BJP workers?

The BJP candidate alleged that large-scale illegal construction has been done by filling ponds in the entire Shrirampur Lok Sabha constituency. The matter should be investigated impartially by a central institution. Those who gave permission for the construction of the building are all guilty. Both Trinamool Congress and CPI(M) parties are responsible for this incident because both the parties have members in the local Gram Panchayat.

Hearing the news of the incident, CPI(M) candidate from Shrirampur Lok Sabha center Deepshita Dhar also reached the spot and termed the under-construction building as illegal and said that this construction is being done by disregarding the rules. Strict action should be taken against the culprits. Deepshita said that illegal construction has taken place throughout Shrirampur. Action should be taken against this.
