According to the official bank holiday calendar released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks are going to remain closed for 3 to 4 consecutive days in many major states of the country this week.

There will be a long holiday in banks in various cities due to the second Saturday of the month, regular Sunday weekly holiday and major festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi and Samvatsari coming immediately thereafter. In such a situation, common consumers and businessmen may have to return empty handed if they go directly to the bank branch without getting complete information.

This week, bank holidays will be observed from 11th September till 15th September in different circles:

• 11 September (Friday): There will be a public holiday in bank branches due to municipal elections in Jaipur, Rajasthan. After this, banks will remain closed for 3 consecutive days in Jaipur due to second Saturday on 12th and Sunday on 13th.

• 12 September (Saturday): of the month Second Saturday Due to this, there will be complete closure of operations at the national level in all government, private and rural banks across the country. In Assam, this day is also the Tirobhav date of Shrimant Sankardev.

• 13 September (Sunday): Due to weekly holiday, all bank branches across the country will remain closed.

• 14 September (Monday): Ganesh Chaturthi / Vinayak Chaturthi / Haritalika Teej Banks will remain completely closed in Maharashtra (Mumbai, Nagpur, Belapur), Karnataka (Bengaluru), Tamil Nadu (Chennai), Telangana (Hyderabad), Andhra Pradesh (Vijayawada), Odisha (Bhubaneswar) and Goa (Panaji) on the auspicious occasion of . Most states in North India—such as national capital Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana—do not have Ganesh Chaturthi regional bank holiday notified on September 14 and 15.

Banks in these states will remain closed only on 12th September (Second Saturday) and 13th September (Sunday). On September 14 (Monday), banks of Delhi, Lucknow and Patna will open as normal and functioning will run smoothly. However, check clearance and interstate transactions involving banks in Maharashtra, Gujarat and South India may be affected.

Despite branches being closed, customers need not panic as holidays have no impact on online banking services:

• UPI and Net Banking: Money transactions through PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm and bank mobile apps will continue normally 24 hours.

• IMPS and NEFT: Digital fund transfer services will work round the clock.

• ATM and Cash Deposit Machines (CDM): ATMs and passbook printing kiosks will remain open for cash withdrawal and deposit. In view of the long holidays, banks have given instructions to load sufficient cash in ATM machines so that the general public does not face cash crunch.
