In the quarter under review, major companies like Samvardhana Motherson, NBCC, Satvik Green and Berger Paints have presented their results. In the performance of these companies, while on one hand Motherson and NBCC have registered strong growth, on the other hand the huge decline in the profits of Satvik Green has surprised the investors. Let us know in detail how this second quarter has been for these big companies in financial terms and what story their figures tell.

Great performance of Samvardhan Motherson: Strong increase of 13.9% in consolidated net profit

The country and the world’s well-known automotive giant, Samvardhana Motherson, has given positive signals in the market with its strong financial results in the second quarter of the current financial year. According to the data released by the company, in the July-September quarter, Sanvardhan Motherson’s consolidated revenue has registered a solid growth of 8.6 percent on an annual basis. During this period, the total revenue of the company increased to Rs 38,280 crore, whereas in the same quarter of the last financial year it was Rs 35,244 crore.

Not only the revenue, but also the net profit of the company has revealed excellent figures. In the quarter under review, the consolidated net profit of Samvardhan Motherson jumped by 13.9 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,175 crore, while the company had earned a profit of Rs 1,032 crore in the same period last year. Apart from this, the EBITDA of the company also registered an increase of 8.4 percent and it increased from Rs 3,096 crore to Rs 3,357 crore. The best part is that the company’s EBITDA margin remained completely stable at 8.7 per cent, which reflects its stable and strong performance.

NBCC takes a long flight: Bumper jump of 33.8% in net profit and improvement in margin.

This second quarter has also proved to be very good for the major public sector construction and real estate company NBCC. The company has proved through its financial performance how strong its hold in the infrastructure and construction sector is becoming. NBCC’s total earnings during the second quarter increased by 16.5 per cent year-on-year to Rs 3,396 crore as against Rs 2,914 crore recorded in the same quarter last year.

There has been a tremendous and historic jump in the net profits of the company. NBCC’s net profit in this quarter reached Rs 206 crore with an impressive growth of 33.8 per cent year-on-year, whereas the company’s profit in the same quarter last year was Rs 154 crore. Apart from this, the operating performance of the company has also improved significantly. NBCC’s EBITDA more than doubled from Rs 104.5 crore to Rs 225.5 crore. The most important thing is that the EBITDA margin of the company has also registered a tremendous improvement and it has improved from 3.6 percent last year to 6.6 percent this time, which is a very positive sign for investors.

Quarter was challenging for Satvik Green: Revenue increased but profit fell by 75%

While on one hand companies like Samvardhan Motherson and NBCC earned handsome profits, on the other hand this quarter was very difficult and full of challenges for Satvik Green. According to the data released by the company, the total revenue of Satvik Green increased by 17.6 percent year-on-year to Rs 903 crore in the quarter under review, compared to Rs 768 crore in the same quarter last year. Despite the increase in sales, there was huge pressure on the company’s bottom-line i.e. profits.

Satvik Green’s net profit declined by a huge 75 per cent year-on-year to just Rs 21 crore, whereas in the same quarter of the last financial year, the company had earned a handsome profit of Rs 85 crore. The main reason behind this huge decline in profits is considered to be the sharp increase in the company’s operating expenses and raw material costs. Along with this, a huge decline of 59.5 percent was recorded in the EBITDA of the company and it came down from Rs 111.2 crore to Rs 45 crore. As a result, Satvik Green’s EBITDA margin has also declined from 14.5 percent last year to only 5 percent this time, posing a major cost control challenge to the company in the times to come.

Berger Paints results: Slight increase in earnings and profits, but pressure on margins remains

Paint sector giant Berger Paints has also made its second quarter financial figures public. The company’s performance can be called mixed because on one hand there has been growth in revenue and profits, on the other hand pressure on margins due to global and domestic reasons is clearly visible. Berger Paints’ revenue increased by 13.2 per cent year-on-year to Rs 3,200 crore in the quarter under review, compared to Rs 2,827.5 crore in the same quarter last year.

The company’s net profit in this quarter was recorded at Rs 217 crore with a slight increase of 5.3 percent, whereas last year it was Rs 206 crore. Furthermore, Berger Paints’ EBITDA increased by 5.1 per cent to Rs 370 crore from Rs 352 crore. However, due to increase in costs, there has been a slight decline in the EBITDA margin of the company and it has come down to 11.6 percent from 12.4 percent last year.

The company has clarified in its official statement that due to the sharp increase in the cost of raw materials, the growth of their operating profit has been affected. To deal with this situation, the company is considering implementing further increase in the prices of its products if necessary in the month of November and thereafter. The management of Berger Paints also says that the continuous fluctuations in the foreign exchange market, geopolitical uncertainties and concerns related to the availability of raw materials will remain a major risk to the company’s margins in the near term, which the company is keeping a close eye on.
