South-West Monsoon has become fully active across the country, due to which heavy rains are continuing in many parts of India. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) today i.e. 11 July 2026 Red and orange alert of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall has been issued in many states of North, East and North-East India.
According to the Meteorological Department, while there is a serious warning of floods, thunderstorms and lightning due to torrential rains in the states of North and Eastern India, there may be a slight reduction in rain activities in Central and Southern Peninsular India. Due to this continuous rain, there is a possibility of landslides in the hilly areas and traffic in the plains, due to which travelers and farmers have been advised to be especially cautious.
Let us know how the weather will be today in all the areas and states of the country:
1. North India: Risk of flash floods in Uttarakhand and western UP
Monsoon is completely favorable in the plains and hilly states of North India:
-
Delhi-NCR: The continuous rains in the National Capital Region (NCR) for the last two days have completely changed the weather pattern. With relief from the scorching heat, there has been a huge improvement in air quality (AQI) and people are breathing clean air. However, the problem of waterlogging and heavy traffic jams in many areas of Delhi remains a big challenge for the administration.
-
Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh: There is a possibility of heavy rainfall with thunder and strong winds at the speed of 40-50 km/hr in these states.
-
Uttarakhand and Western Uttar Pradesh: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for both these areas. Extremely Heavy Rain Alert (Red/Orange Alert) Is released. The risk of flash floods and landslides has increased greatly in the hilly districts.
How will be the weather of Delhi for the next 5 days (11 to 15 July)?
Delhi-NCR will be generally cloudy in the coming days and there will be relief from humidity:
-
11th July: Maximum temperature 36°C and minimum 25°C, possibility of rain with thunder.
-
12th July: Temperature 37/26°C, generally cloudy.
-
13 and 14 July: Maximum temperature expected to be 37°C and partly cloudy.
-
15 July: The temperature will be around 35/26°C with light to moderate rain.
2. Eastern India: Very heavy rain expected in Bihar and eastern UP
Due to the impact of monsoon cyclone and Dronika, the weather pattern remains harsh in the states of Eastern India:
-
Bihar and Eastern Uttar Pradesh: The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rain in these areas.
-
West Bengal and Sikkim: Torrential rains will continue in the hilly areas of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Winds can blow at a speed of 40-50 km/hour along with thunderstorm and lightning.
-
Odisha: Light to moderate rain will occur over most parts of the state, while heavy rain is likely over some coastal places.
3. North-East India: Danger of extremely heavy rain in Assam and Meghalaya
Life may be affected due to active monsoon in the northeastern states:
-
Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh: There is every possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in these states due to continuously active monsoon.
-
Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura: Due to extremely heavy rains in the sub-Himalayan areas of these states, the water level of the rivers may increase, due to which there is a danger of creating a flood-like situation.
4. West and South India: Rain activities will reduce
The pace of monsoon will be a little slow in the western and southern parts of the country for now:
-
Western India (Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra): Monsoon activity will be less in these states. The weather will be clear or sunny over most areas with only light showers at isolated places. However, coastal areas of Konkan and Goa will see good rain. The weather is expected to remain dry in Central Maharashtra and Marathwada.
-
Southern India (Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala): Rainfall is expected to reduce over central and southern peninsular India for the next 6-7 days. Only light to moderate scattered rain with thunderstorm and lightning is forecast in these states.
Weather diary notes: According to IMD’s long-term forecast, most parts of the country are expected to receive slightly below normal rainfall in the month of July, but the rainfall quota may remain normal or above normal in certain areas of north-east and eastern India. A slight increase in temperature may also be recorded above normal at many places.
