At that time, both of them held each other’s hands with the hope that they would support each other in the last stages of their lives and overcome loneliness.
This marriage, which took place in the year 2025, was much talked about in the entire area. This was being seen as a big example for the society that no bar of age comes in the way of breaking loneliness and social stereotypes.
Why did the relationship of an elderly couple break within a year?
This marriage took place with the full consent of both the families and relatives and relatives from both sides became witnesses of this unique marriage. But as a few months passed after the marriage, the golden dreams started shattering. There was severe lack of compatibility between the elderly husband and wife and daily domestic disputes started.
The matter escalated so much that panchayats of responsible people had to be organized several times in the village to calm down and resolve the matter. The family members and the villagers tried their best to convince both of them to live together, but the sourness and bitterness in their relationship was not showing any signs of diminishing.
Elderly Naseema Khatoon’s serious allegation: “Mian lives separately, but…”
The reason given by 75 year old woman Naseema Khatoon for separation surprised everyone. Naseema said that Kamruddin had promised her at the time of marriage that he would cook food for his granddaughters, feed them and give them comfort. But after the marriage, it was revealed that Mian (Kamaruddin) himself was living in a separate house.
Naseema made this allegation: The elderly wife’s serious allegation is that Kamruddin wanted her to do heavy and difficult household work even at this age. He used to make her sleep near him all the time. According to Naseema, after such harassment and reneging on promises, she can no longer live in this relationship. He clearly said that instead of living like this, it is better to go to his daughter’s house and live a respectable life.
Kamruddin wanted to save the marriage, but had to bow to his wife’s insistence.
Giving information on this matter, Abrar, head of Mahmoodpur Elderly Village, said that 80 year old Kamruddin was in favor of saving this relationship till the last moment and keeping his wife together. He had also requested to live together in the Panchayat, but his wife Naseema Khatoon was not ready to live together at any cost and remained adamant on separation.
Ultimately, seeing the wife’s stubbornness, daily mental stress and increasing family disputes, elderly husband Kamruddin signed the legal papers of divorce with a heavy heart. Both of them ended this marriage with mutual consent forever, after which Naseema left to live with her daughter.
