Ghaziabad Court Verdict: Court gave strict punishment to the culprit who committed kidnapping and robbery at knife point; Said- ‘Spread terror in the society’

No matter how clever those who enter the world of crime are, the long arm of the law always reaches them. One such old case has come to light from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, where the court has sent a criminal running an organized gang to jail to face the punishment for his actions.

Ghaziabad’s Special Judge (Gangster Act) and Additional Sessions Judge Court No. 12, while hearing a case related to Gangster Act, has found accused Arun Kumar guilty. The court has sentenced the convict to rigorous imprisonment for two years and five months and a financial fine of Rs 5,000. If the convict fails to deposit this fine amount, he will have to undergo an additional 10 days of jail. However, the court has also made it clear that the period already spent by the accused in jail will be adjusted in his main sentence.

The clutches of law started from the year 2010

This whole matter is about 16 years old. In the year 2010, the police of Indirapuram police station of Ghaziabad had registered a case against Arun Kumar under Section 2/3 of the Gangster Act. The bitter truth had come to light during the police investigation and investigation that Arun Kumar was not a small-time criminal, rather he along with his associates used to run an organized gang in the entire area.

This gang mainly committed serious and audacious crimes like robbery, robbery and intimidation of passers-by using illegal weapons. Several cases related to Arms Act, dacoity and robbery were already registered against him in Indirapuram police station, on the basis of which the police had prepared his ‘gang chart’ and charged him with being a gangster.

The victim’s testimony exposed the truth in the court.

During the court hearing of this case, the government prosecution presented three important witnesses before the court to prove the crime. One of these witnesses was himself a victim of that horrific incident.

Narrating his ordeal before the court, the victim said that in May 2010, when he was passing near Sector-62 of Noida, Arun Kumar and his miscreants had kidnapped him at knife point. After this, the miscreants threatened him and looted all his cash and mobile phone. However, the police, activated after the incident, laid siege and arrested the accused and also recovered 100 percent of the looted belongings of the victim.

Court’s strict comment: Spreading fear in society cannot be tolerated

The special court has given a strong message to anti-social elements in its decision. The judge said in his judgment that the documentary evidence presented by the prosecution and the statements of eyewitnesses amply proved that the criminal activities of the accused had created an atmosphere of fear, dread and terror in the society. He took law into his own hands only for his illegal financial gains.

During the hearing, while the government lawyer called for the harshest punishment calling the accused a professional and habitual criminal, on the other hand the defense lawyer requested the court for some leniency citing his weak financial condition and family responsibilities. But keeping in mind the seriousness of the crime and the safety of the society, the court sentenced the accused to jail.
